The launch of the City of Belmopan Digital Connect Center

Today, the City of Belmopan hosted the newest addition to our nationwide network of Digital Connect Centers. Through the Digital Inclusion Programme, and a partnership between the Ministry, the Republic of China Taiwan , and the Belmopan Area Representive Hon. Oscar Mira, citizens of Belmopan and surrounding communities now have a point of internet access and digital tools to bridge the digital divide.
With the misconception that cities do not have challenges in digital connectivity, cities such as Belmopan are essential actors and drivers of Belize’s Digital Transformation. Guided by our ambitious and first of its kind National Digital Agenda 2022-2025, both rural and urban areas will be benefiting from not only center establishments but also digital skill trainings. These trainings, which are soon to be launched, will target digitally vulnerable groups but also include youth and the elderly.
Belize’s network of Digital Connect Centers will serve as the foundation for transformational change, empowering citizens to thrive in this new digital landscape.
